Atiba de Souza: Yo, video SEO is like a hot topic right now and if you've already started creating video, you're probably super confused by it. And so today I'm gonna break it down into five, that's right, five steps for video SEO just for you. So that you understand how you can master video SEO.

Hey, everybody! Welcome to Thoughts on Thought Leadership. I am your host Atiba, and today we're gonna get a little bit technical. We're gonna be talking about video SEO. I know a lot of times we talk about the theory behind things, but I want to dive a little bit deeper today with you as we talk about video SEO.

I'm gonna give you five steps. Five steps to master your video SEO. Okay? These are five things you've gotta do. So number one, let's get started.

The first step to master your video SEO is using the question that you're asking as the title of your video. Now, if you've been watching me for a while and you're using my content strategy, then you know exactly what I'm talking about, cuz we've talked before about how to find the perfect topic for your video. Now, if you don't know what I'm talking about, then the thing I want you to do is hit the link right here down below, meetatiba.com, meetatiba.com. Come over to my LinkedIn. Connect with me on LinkedIn, and send me a message and ask me about the content strategy because I want to send it to you. Okay?

So that you can be creating the perfect content strategy for your video, but that's number one. Super, super simple. Don't change the title of the video from the question. It should be the exact question that you are answering. Don't change the wording, the exact question. That's number one.

Step number two to mastering video SEO. Step number two, repeat the question in the first two sentences of your video description. You must repeat the question. It's not only good enough to have it in the title, but you have to repeat it in the first two sentences of your video description. You see, once you're doing this, you're sending signals not only to YouTube but also to Google that says, "Hey, this is what I'm talking about. This is absolutely what I'm talking about because I keep repeating it." And so therefore you're saying, "It's important to me." And that's what this video is about.

Number three, write a long summary. I see so many people wasting time and wasting real estate with their summaries on YouTube, and they write one or two sentences and then they're done.

No. Summarize your entire video in that description. There are people out there, experts who will tell you, "Hey, your YouTube description, it should be something that makes your viewer want to watch your video." But let me ask you a question. When was the last time you actually read a YouTube description before you watch the video?

Yeah, it never happened. It never happened. Nobody does it. So it's bad advice. So use the description for all that it's worth. YouTube allows you 2,200 characters or more by now, but it's at least 2,200 characters. Write a long descriptions, summarizing what you're talking about. Don't put your transcript there.

That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying summarize your video. So you're going to use in step two, I told you, use the question in the first two sentences and then in the rest of it, as you summarize, rephrase the question multiple times. Use different words to describe the question, to ask the question in a different way.

This is when you get to change the question. This is when you get to say, "Hey, if you're asking this question, you probably also ask this question too." Use the description to write a long summary. That's step number three.

Step number four, transcribe, transcribe, transcribe. You must. It is imperative. You must transcribe your videos. You must. And I know, if you're uploading to YouTube, it's very tempting to press that little button that says auto transcribe. Do not do it. Do not do it. Here's why.

YouTube at best is 70% accurate when it transcribes your videos, but you have no control over that 70%. So it may be the most important things that you say that it gets wrong.

Maybe the most important things that you say that it gets wrong. And so you don't wanna leave that to chance because that transcript, when you put up a perfect transcript or a near perfect transcript of everything that you said. Then YouTube and Google read that transcript and they can actually understand what you're talking about in your video, and it's a huge, huge, huge ranking factor.

So don't leave it to chance. Don't leave it to some machine that's going to guess about your words. Take control and transcribe your videos. Transcribe your videos. Now, if you need help with that, we've got a link down below to the tool that we use to transcribe thousands of hours of videos every single month, and that's Descript. We've got that link down below. Go click that link. Go get Descript. It will change your life, and guess what? It will transcribe your videos in, yeah, just a couple of minutes. It's freaking awesome. Absolutely awesome. That's tip number four. Transcribe, transcribe, transcribe.

And then number five, and this is not only one of the most important steps in video SEO, but this is the one that people miss the most.

I've seen people do the first four, then they miss this one. If you're following my content strategy and the way we teach you how to make sure that your videos have great value, and you have that question that you answer, then you must repeat the question multiple times in the video. Repeat the question.

Listen, I have said steps to master video SEO multiple times in this video because that's what this video is about. And that's the question that people are asking. How do I master video SEO? How do I master video SEO? You must repeat the question multiple times. You've gotta repeat the question multiple times, because remember, you're transcribing the video.

Both YouTube and Google are reading the video. And so therefore, they're hearing you say that question over and over again. They saw the title and they said, "Oh, this must be about how to master video SEO." Then they read your caption, your description, and they saw that you started with how to master video SEO.

And then as they read through the description, they saw that you talked about the steps and you talked about different things, and you summarize it. But then when they see that in your video, you're saying it multiple times, you're sending all of the signals that yes, yes, yes. Guess what this video is all about? How to master video SEO?

That's what this is about. And you're saying that very plainly to them and very clearly. Step five, you must, you must repeat the question multiple times in your video.

Now, those are the five steps that you must take. Now you're probably asking at this point, "Hey, I need help doing this step. I need help doing step two. I need help doing step five."
