Atiba de Souza: So ChatGPT is the rage right now. And truthfully, if you've tried it, you may have gotten frustrated because you might be feeling like it's not actually giving you really great information.
Hey, everybody! Welcome to Thoughts and Thought Leadership with Atiba. I am Atiba, the video content Superman, and today we're gonna dive into how ChatGPT can actually help you create great video ideation content.
Now, here's the deal. I completely understand where you are because a couple months ago when ChatGPT really, really first started gaining some popularity, a friend of mine said, "Dude, you gotta check this out. This is a game changer." And she had done all of this stuff and produced all this stuff, and it looked great. It did.
And she said, "Go try it." And I did. And yeah, I was disappointed. What? ChatGPT returned to me seemed like trash. It seemed juvenile, it seemed silly, and I was like, "We can't use this. It's not good enough for us. This is awful." But she kept having success. So I dove in a little bit deeper and realized that there are four basic sections to the ChatGPT prompt that you must have in order to actually get great results. And we're gonna dive into those right now.
Section number one, who are you? What's the voice that you are writing in? Okay. And this literally looks like "act as a." That's what you put into ChatGPT — "act as a." Now, you can act as almost anything. You can act as a debate coach. You can act as a marketer, you can act as an advertiser. You can act as a hill climbing instructor. Whatever it is, whatever role that you're playing that's what you put in there — "act as a." And what that does for ChatGPT is, it narrows down the field. So now it has all of this information about all of these different topics. But when you say "act as a", it now can narrow down the field and say, "Okay, I only want information that would've been pertinent to this type of person." Act as a. So you start your prompt with that "act as a", and you say who you are. So that's section number one that you must have.
Section number two, what do you wanna produce? So after you tell it what you're acting as, who you are, then you gotta tell it what you wanna produce. Are you producing the blog post? Are you producing a headline? A title? Are you producing an outline? Are you producing a list? You have to tell it what you want.
Okay, so let's say you wanted 10 title suggestions. So act as a concert musician and create 10 titles for... that leads us into section number three.
Section number three. Who are you talking? Uh, actually it doesn't lead us into section number three. It leads to section number four. I'm gonna just reorder my sections. How about that?
What is the question? Or what is the information that you need? Okay. What is the information that you need? Act as a concert pianist and create 10 titles for my next piece on whatever the topic may be.
I don't know music that well to be able to say, but whatever the topic may be, and so you are constructing your prompt in this way, right? You told it who you were. You told it what you're trying to produce. You told it what you want. And then the last section that you must have is, who you want to produce this for? Who's the audience?
Who's the audience? Because if I'm a concert pianist and I'm trying to create titles and the titles are for a piece for sixth graders versus for executives of Fortune 500 companies, they may be different titles cuz my audience is different and what's going to appeal to them and the way we want ChatGPT to write to them is different.
You see, and that was a challenge that I was having up front with ChatGPT is, I just went in and told it, "Hey, write me 10 titles for this." And I didn't give it all of that other information, and they gave me what I thought were 10 titles for a fourth grade class. I'm like, "Well, I'm not talking to fourth graders." So this doesn't work for me. And it's because I had not spent the time to construct the prompt correctly.
Now, those are the four, but I'm gonna give you a bonus because you stayed all the way till the end. I'm going to give you a bonus, and here is my bonus for you.
Section number five, the bonus section, especially when we start writing copy. So this is for my copywriters right now. Okay. We all follow copywriting formulas. As a matter of fact, if you don't know what a copywriting formula is, we're gonna put a link down below for that for you of 27 copywriting formulas.
We all follow copywriting formulas, whether that's PAS, Before and After Bridge, Attention, Interest, Desire Action (AIDA). Whatever the formula is that we follow, ChatGPT can actually use that to give us back the information that we want in that formula.
Same thing with titles. Almost anything that we do that you have a defined formula, you can tell ChatGPT, write it in this style and it will do that.
So those my friends are the five sections, the four basic and the one bonus that you must have in your ChatGPT prompt in order to get back accurate and good results.
